My name is Šárka Mošová, and I am the heart and soul behind Yarn Queen Prague – a dream come true, a place filled with colour, yarn and creativity. I have always been drawn to knitting, and when I realised how difficult it was to find the right yarns and needles, I thought: “Surely I cannot be the only one struggling with this!” And that is how my own yarn shop was born.

Today, Yarn Queen Prague is the largest yarn shop far and wide. Exactly how far and wide? We do not know yet – but we are certainly not talking about just a few streets or a few dozen kilometres. The distance to another shop of a similar size is more likely to be measured in hundreds of kilometres. You certainly will not find another one like it in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Austria or many other nearby countries. Under one roof, you will discover an incredible selection of yarns, brands, colours, needles, tools and inspiration for your next projects.

Before opening the shop, I spent more than 25 years in the world of business, from working in a school canteen to the corporate sector, where I managed teams of sales representatives and travelled frequently. Over time, however, I realised that it no longer made me happy. I did not feel the need to keep chasing a career. I wanted more time for my granddaughter, for myself and, above all, for what I truly loved – knitting. So I found the courage to change direction, and in 2019 I opened Yarn Queen Prague.

I will not pretend that the beginning was easy. I had to learn everything from scratch, from running an online shop to social media marketing. Today, however, I can honestly say that it was all worth it. The shop continues to grow, the knitting community is full of wonderful people, and I have found a balance between my work and personal life.

I am surrounded by a team of people I trust, which allows me to focus on what I enjoy most – sharing my love of knitting with others. I have also started travelling a great deal. As I often tell my granddaughter: “I’m off to find more yarn!” And my English has improved through real-life experience, thanks to our customers, suppliers and my journeys in search of the most beautiful yarns.
